Cassandra Massey, JD, MA

With a background as a family lawyer, mediator, relational coach, and marriage and family therapist, I offer a uniquely comprehensive approach to mediation—one that supports both the practical decisions and the relational dynamics that shape them. I’ve been guiding clients through complex family decisions since 2007.

Most of my clients never have to set foot in a courtroom.

My Approach & Philosophy

Family mediation should do more than produce agreements—it should help you make clear, well-considered decisions about the future of your family. My role is to structure and guide the process so you can move out of reactive conflict and into focused, productive decision-making.

As a mediator, I am not here to take sides or determine outcomes. You retain full control over the decisions you make. I provide the structure, legal information, and guidance needed to help you understand your options and move toward resolution efficiently and thoughtfully.

What makes my approach different is that I don’t just focus on the agreements—I also help you navigate the dynamics that can make those decisions difficult. When communication breaks down or emotions escalate, I guide you in slowing the process down, understanding each perspective, and moving forward in a more grounded and constructive way.

This work is future-focused—helping you make decisions that support your family moving forward. The process is grounded in clarity, compassion, and confidence, so you can move through this transition with stability, make informed decisions, and create agreements that truly work in real life.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MEDIATION

Why choose mediation instead of going to court?

Mediation is typically faster, more cost-effective, and less adversarial than litigation. Instead of leaving decisions to a judge, you work together to reach agreements that make sense for your family.

Who makes the decisions?

You do. There is no agreement unless you both agree. Mediation keeps you in control and supports collaborative, practical solutions rather than win/lose outcomes imposed by the court.

How long does mediation take?

Most families reach resolution in months, not years. The process is focused and efficient, helping you move forward without prolonged conflict. On average, my clients complete the mediation process in 2-4 months.

How much does mediation cost?

We offer mediation services at a flat fee, so you have complete transparency from the beginning. There are no surprise invoices, and the overall cost is typically a fraction of what you would pay through the traditional court process.

How can mediation benefit families?

Mediation reduces conflict and helps you make thoughtful, collaborative decisions—both of which are critical for your family’s well-being. It supports greater stability, more consistent co-parenting, and a healthier environment as your family transitions. The way you navigate this process directly shapes your family’s experience of it.

What if we don’t agree on everything?

Disagreement is part of the process. Mediation is designed to help you work through differences productively, with support in communication and problem-solving, so you can move toward resolution.
